Lateral partner hiring - a new, values-based approach

This issue of Modern Lawyer has a focus on the importance of purpose within the legal services industry. While the notion of a law firm having a defined purpose is still nascent, the majority of firms do have defined corporate values. Yet how many law firms look to assess incoming talent against these stated values? There is an opportunity within the industry to use law firm values to help increase the success rate of lateral partner hiring. In this article, I explore a new paradigm for lateral partner hiring, which takes into account the increased importance that both clients and employees attach to values.
