The International Family Offices Journal
Vol. 1 - Iss. 4 pp. 39–44

The author focuses on the challenges of protecting families when the world becomes increasingly complex. She notes that managing the security of a family and its associated activities has become a dynamic and ever- evolving task, where trust, adaptability, expectations alignment and deep understanding are key. This, in turn, has put pressure on security providers to adopt more agile risk management techniques suited to the unique needs of family offices, rather than to provide passive and reactive protection services. The role of ?trusted adviser' is on the rise as a model adequately to protect the affluent individuals and family offices of today. From her work with a security firm located in Denmark, she describes some prototype Scandinavian cases and advises that protecting people, assets and values - and everything in between - will prove to be a challenge, with a need to think strategically and realistically about security risks - especially for those security advisers who work with family offices.
