Fuelled by these poor results, a small group of avant garde clients have started to employ data analysis techniques on external law firms' billing. Focusing on efficiency, backed by data analytics, these companies have achieved remarkable savings of up to 25% on their legal spend. This focus on efficiency might fundamentally transform the legal industry. -

When the Covid-19 virus turned into a pandemic in early 2020, industries faced unprecedented hurdles, as well as opportunities, with a whole different urgency. Global manufacturing saw supply chains disrupted as countries shut down during the first wave. Many companies had to reinvent their supply chain in a matter of weeks to keep operating. Businesses had to come up with new ways of making existing products. Other companies tapped into a completely new demand that arose overnight due to lock-downs or demand for equipment. In just a few months many companies invented more than they otherwise would in a whole year. The crisis has in a short time frame spurred new ways of thinking and changed the time to market. -

It must have been a little more 10 ten years ago - while I was still with a law firm - that as a team we frequently had to pitch for business. This regularly involved giving a fee quote. Fear of losing the pitch because of the price meant we always tried to come up with a competitive quote. After winning the business, despite all our experience, we often found that in the end we went way over budget and actually lost money. How frustrating.
